If you make a mistake that costs a client money, they can sue you. If you don't have an LLC (or even if you do), your personal assets—your house, your car—could be at risk. Insurance is the firewall that protects you.

Professional Indemnity (E&O)

Errors and Omissions insurance covers you if you give bad advice, miss a deadline, or write buggy code that crashes a client's server. For consultants and devs, this is non-negotiable.

General Liability

This is "slip and fall" insurance. If a client visits your office and trips, you are covered. It also covers defamation (libel/slander) in some policies.

Cyber Liability

If you handle client data and get hacked, the notification costs and legal fees can be astronomical. Cyber insurance covers this specific risk profile.

Policies can cost as little as $50/month. It's a small price to pay to sleep at night.
