Scope creep is the silent killer of agency profitability. It starts innocent—a quick text asking for a logo variation—and ends with days of unpaid work.

The "Zero-Balance" Invoice

When you do a small favor, send an invoice for $0.00 with a note: "Courtesty Discount - 1 Hour extra work waived." This signals that the work had value and you won't do it for free next time.

Change Orders

For larger requests, stop work immediately and issue a Change Order. "I'd love to add that feature! That calls for a change order of $1,500. I'll send it over for signature." This professional boundary usually gets a quick yes or no.
